Need dogbone help here.

I have begun work on the Airline 62-84, using the Rider schematic. The schematic covers several Montgomery Ward models and the parts list provided seems to be for a car radio. The resistors listed are not even close to what I've got, so forget the parts list.

The 56 tube which is the second detector is not working. A signal applied to the plate arrives at the speaker, but ahead of that point, I just get scratches and clicks. I tried a tube swap to no avail. Voltage readings are wrong. I will now attack the grid bias resistor and cap for that tube.

From this website, I gather that a red dogbone resistor with a black tip and an orange dot is a 200 ohms. Body, tip, dot.

This one measures 27 K ohms. OK, I'll replace it.

But, the schematic shows a 20 M ohm resistor on the cathode. Is this a misprint or secret code? :>)
No, I must be reading it wrong.

Thanks, Paul. OK, cross-referencing with the schematic and the color codes on the R's, that works. The bias R labeled 20 M ohm then is actually 20 K ohm.

The black tip, 0, then, is the second digit, not a multiplier. And M is K.
And 'orange body, black tip, no dot' must be an orange dot, 30 M ohms, must be 30 K ohms.

I will need to replace 4 or 5 of these dogbones, but some come close to the code and the schematic. Thanks again.

On the earlier schematics the M referenced K ohms. If you brouse the schematic you will find a resistor that should be labeled in the Meg ohm value.

Thanks. Yes the 1 Meg is there middle of the page.
In the radio it is brown body, black tip, green dot. That one is still within tolerance and helped me confirm the ones which are out of whack.
That Philco website threw me off course. Better now.

I was looking at the right column of that chart and skipped over the second digit, middle column.
