Thanks for the backround.....
I just needed to know where we stood before I went forward.
PS: I NEVER give up!!!!

:George (and all):
:
:I am spending this week (so far) going over the radio you sent me - a Westinghouse WR-100.
:
:I tested the tubes - OK.
:
:I checked for the presence of a local oscillator and I had none, so I investigated.
:
:Turns out that there was a mis-wire on one of the connections to the local osc portion of the 6A7 tube. After I corrected this, I had an LO (checked with a separate receiver).
:
:I also found a resistor value that was way out of tolerance.
:
:BUT I cannot get this unit to mix down an incoming signal and create an IF!! I believe there must be another mis-wire somewhere in the unit. I am looking. The bias on the 6A7 looks ok so far.
:
:I did do a small oops - I turned the second IF slug (metal tuning screw) in until it dropped into the IF transformer - there is no stop!!! Looks like the only way to get it out is to pull out the transformer and dis-assemble it. Any suggestions (all??)?
:
:This is a TOUGH one!!

It sounds like you got your hands full with this little jewel. Let me know if you would like me to send the Emerson chassis to make comparisions. Sorry for the greef but if you get it figured out that will be a major feather in your hat. Good Luck, George T
