Ref schematic from your resource page. what is the purpose of the 6J5 in the extreme right of schematic. both plate and cathode grounded??

I don't have that schematic handy, but with a triode tube wired as such will act like two diodes. One between the grid and cathode and one between the grid and plate. It is probably being used as the radio's second detector.
