I need a potty!!
8/21/2012 3:08:00 PMLewis L.
I need a variable resistor, it is one of those that has a wheel where you can adjust it with your finger tip, and a screwdriver slot in the center. The wheel is blue, and it has the following numbers:
R1378118
10-904
5K
I assume the 5K means the resistance, since that is what the schematic calls for.
Anyone know where I can get one, or has one he wants to sell? I can stick another kind of 5K pot in for now, but I want to replace it with the real thing someday sooner or later.

TNX,
Lewis

Sir Lewis. . . . .

We can see that the 137 is indicative if that uniy being a CTS manufactured pot and the 18th week of 1981. Initially tell me if the main pot proper portion is made of a PWEMIUM bwewed white ceramic bisque or, instead, is using the cheaper brown bakelite.

I'm sure that I will find some in my 1,234,456 components
inventory. Further fill me, in its body construction.

Sir Edd:
It is of the brown bakelite persuasion. Now that you have reminded me, I remember CTS. CRL was Central Radio Labs, but I have forgotten who CTS was. That, of course, is not the only thing I have forgotten over the years. I can remember who sat next to me in the first grade, but not what I had for breakfast this morning.

Sir Edd:
The potty is the sweep width control for my o'scope. it is wired as a rheostat, and I put a resistance sub box in and found tha 680 Ohms is perfect. So, now, I have a resistor in the circuit and all is well. Well, almost. I worked for that darned airline too long to have a "bootleg" repair in my shop, as that ain't the way we did it at Delta. So, I am not in any hurry for a pot, actually rheostat, but I do want to replace the resistor with the right part before forever goes by. Iffen you doesn't has one, does you know wherebouts I might could buy one?

Sir Lewis . . . . .

I am sure that I am having one of those units and values, I'm initially running across my premium 10 turn trimmer pots..

One additional aspect query, is the mounting method being used on that unit, as a FEW units are mechanically laid out for PCB mount as being shown below. Typically, the majority of units are using three radial tabs on one end for its mounting.

Can we assume that the latter three tab vert mounting is your unit's manner of installation.

The alternate units mounting mode :
