Mice droppings in old radio

I got this old Crosley Trirdyn and it has some mice droppings in it. What is the best way to decontaminate it? I want to avoid getting that hanta virus.

Lighter fluid and a match!
Just kidding. I would do this outside, set it on a sheet of plastics, spritz the dusty areas lightly with water and wipe it out gently with paper towels, then dispose of everything. I would repeat this a few times before and after removing the chassis. It is the dust that allows the virus to spread if it gets in your lungs. The speaker and the grill cloth will have to be cleaned of all dust as well.
If the droppings are pre-1998, there is far less likelihood of them carrying the virus. If you are the extremist type, take a few droppings to a lab for testing. I'm no expert, so these are just suggestions. Google 'hanta virus' for info, locations and history.

The previous owner of my Hallicrafters boatanchor allowed a regular rodentia motel to happen inside it. I busted out the ol' shopvac and vacuumed it all out, then followed up with 99 alcohol and pads, then followed that with the detailing. Had a ton of pee in there too. Worked well for me.

Alcohol sounds good to me, perhaps some disposable germicidal wipes. Add some disposable masks and gloves and of coarse do it outside. Hantavirus pulmonary syndrome can be fatal.

Yes, I don't advise using a vacuum if you suspect Hanta virus. Deer mice are known carriers. The dust is deadly.

A friend lost a lung to Hanta, had no idea he was infected until he collapsed one day. His lung had swollen and stopped his heart. Lucky he was in a public place.

Best part about alcohol- when you are done if you have any left over, mix with orange juice & enjoy. Yummers! (I know- different alcohol)
