Philco PT-95

I bought this 95 not working and when I opened it up it a 47uf 160V hooked up------does that even belong in there? It looks as if the output transformer doesn't fit correctly and only half soldered in----Any ideas on that? I am a novice and even with the schematic I really don't know what to do. Thanks for advice, Mike in Palm Springs

Hi Mike

Capacitors identified as 26A and 26B dry out and fail in time. Someone has added a replacement for one of these sections. The original schematic shows 20 mf but it wasn't unusual to find a higher value substituted.

Caps 26A and 26B should be replaced. You can use a 22 mf @ 160 volts for each section. The original had both caps in one unit.

Since your 47 mf is rated 160 volts may already be new? Not knowing I would replace it anyway.
