Orpheus, a rose is a rose afterall
6/24/2012 12:04:22 AMMitch
I just did the final finish on this radio with a matched horn speaker driver. The radio has an internal wooden horn speaker and the original driver was completely destroyed by a guy named Mitch.

I contacted West Tech Services to discuss a replacement driver, or repair the one i destroyed.

I sent them the old one, no repair possible under $200.00, no chance. But, they could build me one that matched the impedance of my radio and even have the thread to mount it in the wooden radio support for about $80.00.

Eighty dollars? Final cost was $86.00 with shipping.

I completely restored the electronics in this radio including the interstage transformers.

The radio plays and sounds great, i live in NC and am listening to the oldies station from Saint Louis, Mo. via Rte 66.

I thought i would share this with all of my friends on the Forum, we all have great satisfaction in these old radios.

Thank you,

Mitch

Very nice job Mitch. Looks really great.

I've used West Tech Services myself (parts for an Edison phono). Very good company to deal with.

Deer meester Mitch . . . . .

In making up of the shortcomings of your "Speed Graflex" cameras auto iris feature, in overiding and producing a less than optimal exposure.

I altered the B and C factors in order to enhance the picture gradiation . . . . (with apologies due, to the now vividly BLUSHING rose.)

Seems like it do shows up the cabinetry work . . . . . even mo' betters now.

With one now seeing the water pump . . errr . . .speaker /driver at the top center rear, and it feeding downwardly into the wooden cataclysmic folded chamber , to then emanate forward, with the sound, at the bottom front grille works.

:Gentlemen,

It is a candle afterall, Vanilla. At my age I need the extra candle light power to see small details, plus it helps when i trip the breaker so i can find it and reset it.

Many thanks to all on the Forum.
