Hi all, did anybody catch "American Restoration last Wednesday the auction show? I was on it for a split second but I did sell a 1935 Gilfilan for a grand. I was shocked but It was a mess when I bought it for 40 dollars. I replaced the transformer, controls, every capacitor, every resistor, 90% of the wiring, and speaker with a 6" PM speaker. Put a lot of work into it and was hoping to get 500 dollars for it. Kelly was holding it right at the end of the show. Sometimes you get lucky. LOL Best to you all. George T

Hi Paul, yeah they got a bunch of kids producing the show and I guess that is the way they do things nowadays. If you blink you miss something. You're right it is all about the WOW factor. Frankly if I wasn't involved I probably wouldn't watch it for the same reasons. Best 2 U, George T

Hi George. the last and only time i was in an action, was two years ago. a local ham fest had one. i entered a fully restored atwater kent model 20 small box radio with a power supply and horn speaker. the auction had a no reserve. the radio played great! the radio sold for a lousy $30.00. from then on i will never attend another auction in my life time.

OMG that was a shame. People get the deal of a lifetime but don't think about the poor guy that just got hammered. I'm sorry to hear that Paul. Auctions with no reserve are very shakey at best, at least I was able to stick a reserve on my stuff or I would have probably taken a beating on the other 3 radios I had there. Take Care, George T
