I have acquired by some skillful trading a Crosley E-15 in rough but complete condition. This is the model my dad brought home in 1953 and what entertained us every day for about 10 years.
The metal grill is badly tarnished with a red and green patina which appears to be copper corrosion. Is the grill copper, or am I seeing what's left of the plating? What is a safe way to clean it?

Actually it appears to be a bronze or brass plating on steel. Any tips on recoating the exposed steel to imitate the original? I don't need to have it shiny like new.
