This is my first time seeing a forum. I'm just a bit slow. I wondered if there is anyone between Pittsburgh and Cleveland that can work on a couple of my radios. The big hitch is, I want to watch. I have a 200 lb. Majestic tombstone that I need to find a wire. I have a Howard that needs sound, and I have others that need miscellanous tweeking. I can only drive 60 or so miles from my base, which is the state line between Ohio & Pennsylvania.

Generally speaking an antique radio repair service takes in radios as first come first served basis. They normally have a back log of sets waiting for service. To ask to watch the repair of your radio would probably be denied as the technician would be distracted by your presents. You can ask for a descriptive repair bill, as to what was done to your radio. Or even talk to the tech after the radio is ready to go. All old parts are retuned to you. I do not know of any service in your area. You will have to research this on your own.

Hi Rob,
Sounds like what you need is what I believe the Hams call an "Elmer".I think that's what they call it anyway.

In fact,if you have any Ham radio clubs in your area,I would check with them. Many of the "old timers" still use and repair tube equipment and probably wouldn't mind a "co-pilot" while they work.

Hi Rob

You can find information about antique radio clubs here. Should be one in your area.
