Trying to remove plastic varible condenser knob, but
can't find setscrew and will not pull off. Please
advise method for doing this, so I can disassemble metal
case form chasis, for cleaning.

The set screw is located on the pot metal spined gear just inside the metal case. Chances are the pot metal has deformed and even if you can release the set screw, the brass knob shaft will be frozen in the pot metal spined gear and will be difficult to separate.
