9/6/2009 8:28:54 PMAndy
Hi,
I just got a Majestic Grandfather Clock Radio, model 156. I see the chassis is the model 15. I don't find a schematic for this. Where might I find this,or would someone send it to me?

Thank You, Andy

I think that is it! I thank you very much for your help. I bought this from a dealer that,I think, didn't know what he had. I payed a fraction of its book worth. I am very pleased with this find! I have wanted one of these for years!

Thank You, Andy

Know what you mean about that. Have a peek at this one.

If I had the spot for that, and cash laying around. I would go for having one too.

Hi Warren,
Thats a really sweet looking Grandfather Clock Radio. I look for Basket Cases! I like the challenge of an involved restoration. I will not touch a radio that is in mint condition. I work on radios that other collectors would pass-up.

Hi,
You did have allot on your plate there! I expect the same. This was a lucky find. I usually work the weekend. So, I should have missed this. But,I was there when it came off the truck! I plane to be very proud of it when it is done! Any tips from you would be appreciated!

Not sure what your experience is in restoring radios...but this will be quite a challenging radio to work on if it is anything like the model 20. I believe your chassis is close to the same as the one I worked on. You might have a large (VERY LARGE) cap block with LARGE/HEAVY audio interstage transformer all in one tar block. Also the main tansformer is also sealed in a VERY heavy tar block. My main transformer was replaced some time ago so I was lucky. The Majestic power transformers are very problematic. Instead of trying to melt tar out of cans (for tansformers that were bad and the main cap block) in an oven (in the house...way way to smelly) I took my dremmel tool and cut off blades) and opened up one side of each can. (where you can not see once back together again) and pryed out tar with a little bit of heat from my heat gun. You will need to do this if your chassis has large cap block with audio transformer also inside...JUST BE SURE TO MARK ALL WIRES YOU HAVE TO CUT..I used masking tape and a permenant marker...If audio transformer has bad secondary ..there is a really neat little fix you can do (Just look at my posting for Majestic 20). Also in the TAR SEALED I.F cans there are 2 .1 caps you will need to slowly heat up and melt tar to get at. Any more question please feel free to ask...
