AC/DC receiver and floating ground

The bulb won't light if the short is through you. A better indicator of that sort would be to place the radio in series with a neon bulb or two, but you wouldn't be able to actually operate the radio in this way. With the radio off, the neon bulbs would indicate leakage to ground, or perhaps just the capacitive coupling through an unswitched line cord filter capacitor.

....Best to just use an isolation transformer.
