Terry, Yea, probably best to just walk away for a while, and let you mind and body rest from this ordeal. As for your medical issues, I'll be prayin for ya bro. And Cindy thanks for the kind words for both us. As for MW, don't know what his beef is. There was a time ago, another marv posting some pretty caustic stuff relating to Peter, Glen and maybe me too. After several months of that, I've become immune to all, except real help and tech issues. Go figure.marv :::Terry, :::Been to Hell and back, survived the trip with a lot of gray hair and wrinkles, but at 70+ don't care what those other guys say either. I do wood, radios or ANYTHING else that drops into my lap, and still learning. GOD BLESS AMERICA. ::: :::marv ::: :::IPAddress: ***.96.71.162 : :Geez, can't you people be nice! I've seen more critical comments on this site than any other, and that's saying something. : :Thanks again for your suggestion Marv. : :After some consideration, and advice from my landlord, I've decided to glue a wooden disk around the hole. The knob is very deeply knurled, and I think will grip it successfully. The hard part, of course, will be to line it up so that it clears the speaker and fits through the hole. :NOW- That said- :I won't be working on this set for awhile, so this is probably my last post on this subject. I spent THREE HOURS messing with this thing Sat. afternoon. I even had another set, a 535, with almost the EXACT same circuit on the bench next to it. It SHOULD work!!! I tried EVERYTHING. I did Edd's scope thing- Thomas and Peter's suggestions; I even went through my referance books and watched Brett's fine "Old Radio" DVD. The only thing I accomplished was to finally break one of the coil wires. It can be fixed, but I need to distance myself from it for a while. I've generated more drawings, notes and photos of this radio than any other I've worked on. Right now it's all wrapped up and sitting on a shelf in my closet, so I won't have to look at it for a while. : :And a further note about being grumpy- try living with incredible pain every day, and the doctor saying, after major surgery and radiation therapy, "Gee, I'm sorry, but we didn't get it all". That kind of puts things in perspective. :Have a nice day- :Terry :: ::I wouldn't be too proud of that Mr Marv. ::Obviously you didn't learn any common human courtesies or wisdom along the way. ::You may have "survived" that trip to hell Mr. Marv, but judging by many of the responses that we've seen you post to folks here, you sure seemed to have picked up some nasty personality traits along the way. :: :: :: ::IPAddress: ***.24.25.49 : :IPAddress: ***.28.48.106
