Old metal Cone speaker

Posted by Dave Froehlich on 04/30/2010 14:11

Hello All,
I have a metal speaker from the 20s. The cone points out in the middle and has a fancy design on it. The speaker part has become detached from the base. Also I don't hear anything when it's connected to a 1920s radio. The Peerless Gothic reproducer works just fine with it. So it's not the radio.
So I'm going to have to probably "overhaul" the voice coil. The linkage and cone center has come off. So I'm going to have to get a reproduction cone when I get the voice coil working. Then the finger shaped piece of pot metal that holds the speaker onto the stand has to be remade, probably on a milling machine or are there reproductions of all these parts I'm talking about?

Thanks,

Dave
