Crackling problem solved, but can't receive stations.

There is ABSOLUTELY no way to express my gratitude for the response to this-both here and at ARF. You've all turned a very bad night into a REALLY good morning. I'm going to move some furniture and look for the rest of the pieces. Even if I don't find anything else I can use, I'm sure some epoxy or JB Weld can effect a repair.
I just want to say that if it wasn't for my participation in these forums, I might not have the courage to proceed. That means a lot, truly.
And besides-we still have an oscillator to fix, right???
