Crackling problem solved, but can't receive stations.

:Just to make this as simple as possible... is the osc running or not?

:To find out.. just place your scope probe tip near to the osc coil.

:You don't need to inject anything from the sig gen.. just turn on the radio and put the probe near there.

:The osc will be 455kc higher than the dial.
:Whatever your dial pointer happens to be at... say 770kc...the osc freq will be at 1225kc

:So the first ting is to set your vert sensitivity low enough to pick up any oscillations in the coil.
:Let's just see if it's oscillating at all.

No- the osc is not working.
AND- the last time I removed it from the case, a little while ago, the tuning dial broke into pieces. It is non-repairable, and non-replacable. There's really no reason to pursue this any further. I'm sorry, I feel like I let you down.

Ugh!
