| :...Also, I discovered that page 3 gives the pin-out of the oscillator coil, which may help. : :In studying both Peter's schematic and the schematic listed on this website (that are the same) http://www.nostalgiaair.org/PagesByModel/699/M0007699.pdf :I noticed that there's no 120 ohm resistor in series with the grid circuit of the oscillator coil, even though you show it on your chassis. Seems I remember having this strange damping resistor in the oscillator of my chassis, too. I'm not sure of its exact purpose, and maybe it isn't supposed to be there (my memory may be wrong). Try shorting across the 120 ohm resistor to see if the oscillator will function better without it. : :T. : :IPAddress: ***.254.163.97 Hi- thanks to both of you for your help and advice. Amazingly, I have a schematic drawing colored in almost exactly like the one shown. I've been wondering about the resistor, and not only that, but there has never been a connection to the rotor of the osc section of the tuning cap. Hmmm. I have a saying-"It's not magic or voodoo". It's physical stuff that worked before. Eventually I'll figure it out, but it sure is a puzzle. This poor little radio has been weird from the beginning, but it is really neat looking, and worth the effort. I've replaced the speaker, which involved cracking the weld to the bracket and epoxying the new one in. I had to figure out that the tube diagram had the 35W4 and 50C5 in the wrong sockets,I replaced the caps in the 4 section ceramic unit, and of course the filter caps. After all that it worked great until I "Fixed" the IF trans. Anyway, tomorrow, after my dog goes to the vet, I'll dig back in- So-more later. Thankds agsain. t. IPAddress: ***.28.48.106 |
