Philco 112 Condenser (after 172,000 ser No.)

Posted by Bob E on 02/03/2010 21:56

I have a question about Part No. 25 which is a by pass condenser rated at .25 mfd. There are three of this particular type condenser in this set. Number 25 has TWO black wires coming out of the right side and one is connects to the cathode of the Osc. tube. The other wire is not connected to anything. Wondering where it
is supposed to be connected to? The other caps that are like this have only one wire coming out of it. Of course there is the fine grounding wire that comes out of the guts of these caps and are soldered to the metal case. By the way these are stuffed in a metal case about the size of a credit card and are about 3/8 in thick. Anyone with experience with these that could shed some light for me?
Thanks, Bob
