Resistance Line Cord Replacement Capacitors

Posted by Robin in Kansas on 05/25/2012 16:01

Hey, everybody!

I've got a collection of curtain burners that I'm trying to restore. I've tried to read nearly every article there is to read about this and have come to the conclusion that I will use the capacitor method. That being said, I've got some questions?

1. What company makes the type that will work? (Solen, Cornell Dubilier, etc.)

2. What type – some companies show metallized polypropylene. Will that work?

3. What would be the best voltage rating (AC/DC)?

4. What do I do if I can't find one with the correct MFD rating?

5. Do I need a "surge" resistor, too?

6. Is a small resistor best across the dial lamps or Zener diodes?

I don’t want to fry these little things. They’re getting harder to find!
