| :You say that both the screens and the plate are at 80 volts. According to the schematic they are supposed to be at 90 volts. If the B+ wire connects to one side of the IF transformer primary, and then continues on to the screen grid terminal, be sure that the wire that connects to the screen grid terminal (pin 6) indeed connects to the B+ terminal of the IF primary and not the plate terminal. Else if both the plate and the screen grid are connected -through- the IF transformer, there will be reduced voltage, and a malfunction of the oscillator may result, with this tuned circuit in its path. : :T. : :IPAddress: ***.254.163.97 Yeah Thomas, I'm pretty sure the problem has something to do with the work I've done around the oscillator. A) the radio DID work, B) it passes a signal from my generator and C) Who says I know what I'm doing-ha ha. At least the crackling is gone. I'm having some medical problems, but I hope to get back into it tomorrow. I figure checking out the osc coil to make sure I haven't messed it up, and replacing the original parts, will bring it back. I'll keep updating. Terry IPAddress: ***.28.48.106 |
