Oh, OK, I get you now, Bill. I'm a little slow on the uptake.

Well, I think the "hot" refers to the resistance whken the winding hot, not just a warning against getting burned. It's the hot resistance that is to be used when figuring B+ voltage drop, etc.

I've never thought of a speaker field coil being hazardous as far as getting burned. I would expect a field coil to have about the same tempeature rise as a transformer, or less.

Now, if he replaces the field coil with a power resistor, that thing will get plenty hot! Same wattage in a smaller package.

:The field coil resistance will increase when temperature is increased. I just didn't think (know)the ohmic values of the field coils on the schematic are for hot resistance.

::Yes, I agree. The resistance of the original field coil when cool would be less than the hot resistance. Right?
