Elton, I restored a 90B a while back, but only remember the cone and voice coil as being one piece, totally separate part, and completely removable. The speaker was a Majestic Colotura model G-3. I seem to recall that the VC attached to the cone normally, but had flexible leads brought out to a terminal board on the frame. I rewound the field coil with 15000 ft of #32. You could probably find paper of similar weight/color at a craft shop, and patch over the missing part using water based white glue that dries clear and flrxible. Small brass/copper eyelets (same craft shop) can be placed in the patch for the VC and flexible wires to join. Silver braid outer shield from small coax can be the flex leads to the outside terminal board, if like mine. I'll mail small coax and eyelets free, with basic instructions, if you choose to take on this task. I can also provide detailed pix of my winder via email.marv :I need advice from a speaker guru, I have a majestic model g-2 that has about a quarter of the paper cone missing, the field coil is still good, but the problem is where the cone is missing is where the voice coil was connected, the wires are just hanging loose, is it possible to take it apart and somehow re-connect the voice coil? or is this now a boat anchor, I have searched on ebay and ptop for a possible replacement with no luck, should I just use a 10 inch PM and use a 2700 ohm 10 watt resistor? I would like to keep this model 90b as original as possible, anyone tried this before? :Thanks :E. |
