Hi Edd,
Unfortunately, the transformer will have to be replaced. In my effort to remove that thick tape... well, you can probably guess what happened.

:As per my really-really-really thinking that the experienced readings on the driver transformer are being alright.

:Its just that intermittent primary connection. . . .situation.
:
:
:Have you carefully peeled back the plastic tape overwrap, and confirmed that the open connection is not right at that point where the exiting winding wires are spun around their respective heavier gauge lead wires and then tack soldered ?
:
:
:Affix your ohmmeters leads to the primary leads with clip leads and then easily / progressively pressure /bend /twist the separate PRIMARY connections as for acquiring some idea as to pressing which connection is the most responsive to connecting or opening continuity.

:
:Anyone up for rewinding ?

::This transistor radio has been an exercise in frustration.
::
::The most recent problem involved the driver transformer; an intermittent open was discovered. The normal primary DC resistance is shown on the schematic to be 650 Ohms; I measured 237 when there was a connection. There are two separate secondary windings; schematic lists 85 Ohms for each; I measured 35. The secondary does not have a center tap.
::
::The parts list shows only a Silvertone part number ( #45604-8). Can anyone recommend a replacement transformer? Thanks!
