| The CW-AM switch could be dirty making no contact. There is also a wire that is for IF feed back when in the CW position. May be possible you have it in the wrong position causing feed back where not wanted. See the S-38 Guy about this wire. Mica capacitors in the IF section can go bad. http://www.the-s38-guy.com/
