well ...Here we go...This radios electronics used solid core cloth covered wire. (U.S Radio & TV model 27).. I went through EVERYTHING for the past 3 weeks...checking all...scratching my head....replacing audio interstage trans, redoing tape resistors, checking power trans., recapping, cleaning "barn" smell and dirt off of it, using heat shrink here and there, new power cord, and rewiring various parts for safe operation. In the proces the wire comming off of antenna coil must of broke..inside of cloth covered insulation. Put new pice on and WHOOLAAAAA..the radio came to life as I slowly brought the power up on my variac. I have not resored cabinet ..looks ok its brand name in CARLTON and after much research found out is was made bu U.S Radio and TV. There are no other I.D markins on it other that a model number. The cabinet is a pointed arch catherdral type..I guess it is called "modern" style.......ANYONE KNOW WHO OR WHAT THIS RADIO WAS MANUFACTURED FOR....The name "Carlton" must of been for a store branch or something... Since the manufactures name doe not appear anywhere...HMMMM
OK NOW ITS ONTO MY NEXT PROJECT....MY HUGE...RCA Radiola 32...

:Hi all I am having a problem with this radio...U.S. & TV corp model 27...pretty basic schematic. I restored the electronics and get weak sound out of speaker... Here is what I did. I recapped..all caps with same value, replaced audio interstage transformer with coreect one (old was bad both sec. and prim.) Restored the tape resistor with same values and checked all others ..rest good and within specks, checked choke (it tests good), pulled power transformer out ...tested...all tests good no shorts..tested tube sockets ..all good tested tubes all good...tested volume control ...tests good, Tested all coils (test good)..Tested speaker= field coil, voice coil, and audio transf.= good...I get propper current to all tubes...I checked and rechecked my rewireing...all looks good yet...dam it.. i get weak sound out of speaker. Any suggestions.??? Could it be the two 50 mmf in the RF cans? They are originaland not replaced....HELP PLEASE!!
