| Hi Jason, Replace the electrolytic filter capacitors before further testing of the radio. In the Rider schematic (available here on NostalgiaAir) these are indicated as items "6Z" and "6Y". Values are 6 mfd and 8 mfd, both 450 volts. Be sure and observe proper polarity, with the negative side oriented toward ground as indicated by the heavy black line in the schematic. The parts list indicates the original was a single 2-section capacitor. For replacement you can use two separate caps, each 10 mfd/450 volts. Poston :I have just began to restore my great grandfather 515, The cabinet is done and the grill cloth has been replaced. I tested all the tubes and replaced the bad 6b5. It turns on and all the tubes light up. There is only static in the speaker and its volume can not be adjusted. Anyone have any suggestion as to what to look into next. I have work on old ham radios and know that old electilitic cap can go bad. I have a schematic for the radio but it shows two differant value caps for one part # but in the radio it seems to have a normal singal section cap. I really want to get this radio playing again.
