| Hello.I am just getting into radio restoration and have been learning about tube electronics from books and great sites like this. However I have a question that I cannot seem to get an answer to.I have three radios ,an English Regentone,an RCA VRA-57 console(phonograph)an a General Electric that have 25 cycle transformers. They say 25 cycle not 25/60 cycle. So what effect will this have? Will it A.just choke the current getting to the radio causing it to run weakly or (B)will it have no effect or (C)could it cause a potentially dangerous situation(overheating ,fire etc.)?Do I absolutely have to replace the 25 cycle units with 60 cycle units or is it okay to leave things as they are?I hope someone can provide me with some info on this subject. |
