| :Hi Terry: : :Your radio arrived here today. : :It was packed very well.... but I noticed there are cracks in the case on the bottom where you have the mounting screws.. right? :It doesn't look like anything from shipping. : :ANYWAY.. it's fixed and running nicely as we speak ...lol : :You weren't far off. :I put my scope lead by the oscillator coil and saw it was not running. :So I checked the wiring. : :The small winding (.6 ohms) of the oscillator coil that connects one lug to the cathode and the other to B- was simply reversed. : :It's a 50/50 call and I just swapped them and it was off and running. : :You had an additional un-needed 120 ohm resistor in series with the 47pf cap to pin 1 but I connected the 47pf cap directly to pin 1 as shown in the print.. but it will work either way. : :I also checked the IF alignment and tried to tweak it a bit but it was fine right where it was. : :I noticed that there is a lot of wires that aren't so neat and I could have cleaned all that up.. but I figured it's better left up to you. It's working now so you can go in and do whatever else you feel like ... but nothing that MUST be fixed.. only neatness stuff. :I'll put it back together and get it ready to mail back to you. : :Have fun with it. : : : :IPAddress: ***.115.81.106 One more thing, yeah-that resistor always confused me too, but it was in there when I got it, (check bag of old parts I included). I don't remember cracks around the screws, sounds like somebody dropped it. There is a small crack on one side, and a chip in one corner I tried to fix with super glue. |
