The least expensive way I have found of storing a whole bunch of tubes is with the 15” X 15” cartons and egg crates, also available at Antique Electronic Supply. My cartons are stacked 5 high on the top shelf of a storage bin, but they would probably safely stack higher if the ceiling wasn’t in the way. I separate tube types such as octal, loctal, miniature, 2 digit types, etc., and label the contents, 6H6 thru 6SK7, 45 thru 57, or whatever. If you plan on adding to your collection, leave a few cells empty in each carton. That way you won’t have to re-label your boxes and re-shuffle your tubes to other boxes near so often. Some of the changes on my cartons look like a bunch of chicken tracks. I also have tubes stored in individual white boxes, but they take up a good bit more storage space.
