1927 Orpheus battery radio filament circuit

Posted by Mitch on 04/06/2012 23:19

:Hi
:
: It was used as a ballast resistor. The idea being a charged battery was 6 volts, tubes needed 5. As a battery discharged and voltage went down the ballast dropped less. It would act somewhat like a regulator.

Hello everyone again,

As i work through this radio design and build a oneline/schematic i find that there is a 6 meg ohm grid leak resistor in the bias circuit. This is a much larger value on any battery radio that i have worked on in the past.

Can someone give a simple explanation for this larger value, of course i will replace it with a 6 Meg as it is open and a bad resistor.

Thank you,

Mitch

::Hello everyone,
::
::I have traced out the full filament circuit which i will be using 5 01A tubes in. I have found a component in series with the filament circuit that i need aome explanation on?
::
::It looks like a screen grid resistor but it is not in the grid circuit.
::
::It does measure 1.1 ohms if it is a resistor. It reads on the lable as a equalizer.
::
::Anyone know what this is for?
